Future planes might get more energy efficient now we finally "cracked" how Albatrosses are being able to stay airborne with their low amount of flaps.
"Through a method called dynamic soaring, the bird—with a wingspan of up to 12 feet (3.7 meters)—can glide thousands of miles without flapping."

If the planes fly more slowly they wont use as much fuel?
I think this one of the Ryanair approach to save on petrol
